Weddings | Beaches | Dancing | Food | Music

This weekend was filled with all good things from friends to love to laughter and good conversations.

On Friday we took a stroll down to the beach to enjoy the sunshine with our friend Robin.

Saturday was my bestest dearest loveliest sister's 21st birthday! I was sad to not be with her on her birthday but Christopher and I were able to Skype with her for a bit so that made up for it! She's kinda awesome and I kinda love her, like a lot. And she will probably roll her eyes when she sees this and say, "Nat, why did you put my picture on your blog?!", but I don't care! I want the world to see how beautiful she is :)

On Saturday we also shared in the joyous celebration of our dear friends Chris and Sarah getting married. We were truly grateful to be part of their celebrations and also to take part in a true Scottish wedding!

Christopher was sad he didn't have a kilt so our friend photoshopped one on him!
After the ceremony, there was short break in the day and then we met up again later that for a Scottish Ceilidh (pronounced kay-lee), which is basically an awesome dance party with traditional folk music and lots of group dancing. We had a TON of fun. It was especially nice because you don't have to be a good dancer to do any of the dances.

Here's a little video from the night (sorry for the quality, it was kind of dark!)

Here's a video I found that is slightly better quality showing you more of the dances they do. Except the people in this video are dancing a lot tamer and slower than we were on Saturday night!#

On Sunday Christopher spent the day working while I spent the day planning out our travel plans for September (more on that later). Then we went to dinner at a friend's house and had delicious homemade veggie tarts.

We got home just in time to catch some of the Newport Folk Festival streaming live on NPR and listened to that for the rest of the evening. If you want to hear any of the awesome bands that played this weekend, you can check out NPR's site for their recordings.

Overall, it was a great weekend. With only a few weekends left here in Edinburgh we are trying to squeeze in everything we can!

Hope your weekend was magical! Pin It
