Our wedding

Although our wedding was nearly a near ago, I figured now was as good a time as any to write up a post about our perfect lovey-dovey day.

Things that you should know about us before reading this post: Christopher and I are both very economical people. Whenever it comes to money, we like to spend it wisely. Therefore, we didn't treat our wedding any differently. We found that many people would love to help out in various ways and many find it more rewarding than giving you a wedding gift. So, we took advantage of our incredibly generous and helpful family and friends and put on the greatest DIY handmade wedding ever!

We got married July 2, 2011 at Skyline Ranch in Jamul on the outskirts of San Diego CA. The location was everything we were looking for. We had wanted a backyard wedding but neither of our yards would work for a wedding. So, what's better than a backyard wedding in your own yard? A backyard wedding in someone else's yard, of course! It really was the perfect venue, set beneath the trees, and surrounded by green grass and an orchard.

We were serenaded by beautiful music from our amazing friends Jeremy, David,  Michael, and Steven. Walking down the aisle on that hot summer day to Alexi Murdoch's Orange Sky was unforgettable.

Christopher's amazing parents!

My sweet dad walking me down the aisle.

My love stood at the end of the aisle and there wasn't a dry eye in the place. This man, this man I was about to marry was so sweet and tenderhearted that he had tears of joy in his eyes the whole ceremony.

Even caught my sister shedding a few tears!

My mommy and me.
Our ring bearer and flower boy!

Our reception was as equally amazing. Complete with delicious food, awesome music, and silly dancing. We partied hard and late and nearly every one of our friends stayed to party till the very end!

Unforgettable Moments

Christopher's mom getting him all ready!

Our wedding day was so hot that the cake began to melt and tip over so we had to cut it before dinner. But who doesn't love cake before dinner?!

Sweating our butts off getting the venue ready for the wedding the day before.

Having our rehearsal dinner in a vintage Spanish pinata party room of a delicious Mexican food restaurant. And eating homemade Baklava made by my hairdresser.

Getting ready for the wedding in an RV outside of the venue!

My dad blowdrying my hair the morning of the wedding.

Christopher + his boys (need I say more?)

Our friends decorated their car to look like a limo to take us to our hotel for the night.

And then waking up the next morning to find other friends had decorated our car in the hotel parking garage!

Overall, it was the most incredible day and couldn't have gone more perfectly. It was everything we wanted - a giant party for our family and friends to celebrate with us. And it included every important element we wanted - great music, good food, being outdoors, and amazing friends.

Check in tomorrow for a follow-up post with some tips on how we created our beautiful day without spending a ton and some of the incredible vendors we used like our superman photographer - Bryan N. Miller!
